Film & Light Piece (performed in 2019, 2020, and 2021)

Film & Light Piece is an ephemeral film performance in which unexposed, unprocessed 16mm color film is screened in a room completely void of light. During its projection, during its performance, the photosensitive celluloid is simultaneously exposed and made optically visible for the first time. This undoing of the filmic apparatus not only reorients the parameters of the medium, highlighting its potential for volatility, but it allows the materials (the phenomena) to become actors in their own production.
